Health and Safety with regards to I.T equipment comes under the Display Screen Equipment Regulations 1992. under this regulation the HSE website uses the abbreviation VDUs to describe display screens but this would typically refer to computer screens. I found a really helpful leaflet on working with display screen equipment which like most things I’ve found on the HSE website was informative and easy to read. I wasn’t aware until now that employers must provide eyesight tests when requested. I found this very interesting, having worked on computers myself and never been offered an eyesight test before it makes you aware that you need to know your background knowledge surrounding health and safety so you can fight your corner in employment if necessary.

There are also so many restrictions when it comes to the actual arrangement of a desk work station, from the positioning of your mouse to the location of where your forearms should be on your desk.
